September Rock Star of the Month

This month’s Rock Star, Chris Quintana, has been a dedicated employee of Rocky Mountain Stone for the past 25 years.  His passion for stonework and bringing projects to completion on a daily basis is at the heart of our mission.  Chris started in our shop as a fabricator and moved his way to shop foreman, sales, operations manager and currently oversees our construction management division for the company.

Chris was nominated by one of his colleagues, Aaron Green, who he works with in construction services.  Aaron stated that Chris “takes on every task given to him with a positive attitude and “get it done” approach.  He’s always more than happy to show others how to do a job and understands construction beyond just the countertop business”.

People like Chris are what make us a leader in our field and we’re fortunate to have him on our team.

Congratulations Chris on this well-deserved recognition!

At Rocky Mountain Stone, we pride ourselves not just on the quality of our stone, but on the experience of our team. When you’re investing in a stone project—whether it’s a custom countertop, an elegant fireplace, or a grand entryway—you want to know that the people behind the work are suited for the job. Many of our employees have risen through the ranks, getting first hand experience in every stage of the process, from stone fabrication to construction management. Today, we’re looking at the different stages of stone fabrication and how they help you get the best possible result for your stone project.

Stage 1: Fabrication – Custom Countertops and Precision Stonework

At the center of many exciting home improvement projects is the fabrication process, where we turn raw stone into beautiful custom pieces. This stage is important, especially when it comes to custom countertops, bathroom vanities, or any intricate stonework. We carefully cut, shape, and polish slabs of natural stone to make sure they fit your dimensions and expectations. Whether you’ve asked for a sleek granite countertop for your kitchen or a classic marble vanity for your bathroom, this step requires a keen eye and a good grasp of the materials we work with.

Stage 2: Design and Sales – Finding the Perfect Stone for Your Home

Once the fabrication stage is underway, the next step involves making design decisions and selecting the right materials. For example, this is where Chris’s experience in sales comes into play. Having transitioned from the shop floor to the sales team, he learned exactly what each natural stone type could offer customers.

Each project has its own unique style and requirements, whether you’re selecting the perfect stone for a custom outdoor kitchen or choosing an eye-catching slab of quartz for your new kitchen island. There are countless options: granite, quartz, marble, and more—and each comes with its own strengths in terms of durability, maintenance, and aesthetics.

When you chat with anyone from the Rocky Mountain Stone team, you’re connecting with someone who truly understands how these stones present in everyday life. We’re here to guide you in finding that perfect mix of beauty and functionality, making sure your project turns out not only gorgeous but also durable for the long haul!

Stage 3: Installation – Crafting the Perfect Fireplace or Entryway

Once the stone has been fabricated and the design finalized, the next step is installation—this is when your vision starts to come to life! This stage requires extra attention to make everything fit perfectly–no dropping the ball here! Leaders of construction management are responsible for overseeing the whole process, whether while coordinating with builders and contractors on larger commercial projects or working with homeowners on custom renovations.
